Marking their special day on 14th November SLG Hospitals, one of the leading healthcare facilities in Hyderabad city, today celebrated “Children’s Day” with a highly entertaining ‘Fun Yoga’ session for kids and adults. The session conducted by Ms. Anubhuti Dikshit, a 300+ hour certified Ashtanga Yoga instructor, was attended by more than 200 children and their parents. A health talk by Dr. Aarathi Bellary, Dr. Arvind Kumar M, Dr. Pavan Kumar, and Dr. Prayaga Jyothsna too was organized to create awareness on childhood obesity and to increase understanding of diabetes.

Yoga helps strengthen children’s growing bodies and helps them improve their flexibility, which can reduce their chance of injury. Yoga teaches discipline and reduces impulsivity. Yoga can reduce challenging behaviors in the classroom by providing a physical outlet for children to express themselves. The participants were taught simple techniques like a warm-up, body stretches, mental relaxation, along with Surya Namaskar and Pranayama.

Commenting on the activity, Mr. D V S Soma Raju, Executive Director, SLG Hospitals said, Today’s children are tomorrow’s future of the country, and yoga will help these children grow with the right mindsets. He stressed such sessions would help spread awareness on the importance of yoga which brings together physical and mental disciplines to achieve a peaceful body and mind, adding that It was widely accepted that yoga helps manage stress and anxiety and helps keep the mind relaxed. SLG Hospitals always spread the message of wellbeing, and such yoga sessions will help improve respiration, energy, and vitality among practitioners, he emphasized.

The yoga session and health talks were organized from 7 a.m. onwards, and each of the participating children was awarded a participation certificate by SLG Hospitals. The session was inaugurated by Mr. Dandu Siva Rama Raju, Chairman & Managing Director, SLG Hospitals.
