Whether it’s because of inept actions by the Government, or negligence, India is devastating due to the Covid 19 Pandemic. Resulting, Now India is paying for the premature declaration of success over the virus. The Indian government has declared a complete lockdown, on March 24th of 2020, following the spread of the virus in its first wave, Which continues for more than 45 days. Even after, Exemptions are given for months by imposing the restrictions. Later, India felt safe, But never imagined the second wave would rampage the country.

 

The government was trying its best efforts to take the credit for restraining the virus. The Election Commission of India declared the election for 5 key states in India, are west Bengal, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Pondichery, and Assam, The ruling Bharatiya Janatha Party was eager to form the government in one of the key states, and prestigious, West Bengal.  Contradiction in conducting the elections for Tamilnadu, Which is one of the largest states, with 234 Assembly seats,  Kerala, Pnadichery, in phase, ECI had given election schedule for West Bengal in 8 phases, Which is a process of 45 days, resulting people suffer more. The schedule of the election commission triggered a wide range of allegations from the opposition parties, as well as the chief Minister Mamath Benarge, who leads the TMC Party.

The well-known poll strategist in India, Prashant Kishor, popularly known as PK, had taken a sharp dig at the ECI, for conducting election in Bengal in 8 phases. He alleged that the ECI is working in the best possible way to give chances to BJP, to win Bengal elections. He emphasized that ECI had taken the biased decision against TMC. Lakhs of people attended the election rallies, which allowed them to expose to the virus, PK said objecting to the ECI’s Inadequate actions, for protecting people from the virus, which was at the peak level during the election period.

Administration of vaccination was delayed

When the Indian government approved the vaccine, developed by the Serum Institute, paved for dramatic incidents. Giving approval for a serum-developed vaccine, The government had also approved, Covaxin vaccine developed by Bharath Biotech. Responding to the approval given to Bharath Biotech, Aadhar Poonawal, the CEO of Serum Institute, questioned its efficacy, and mocked, Other vaccines are as safe as water. With his remarks, People raised questions about the efficacy of vaccines. Never know what are the circumstances taken place, in a night, Serum and Bharath BioTech issued a joint statement the next day, Claiming both the vaccines are safe.

In the first phase of administrating the vaccine, people didn’t come forward to get the vaccine doses. But the government never took any initiative to build confidence among the people, about the vaccine. When Indian companies started manufacturing vaccines, Instead of conducting mass vaccination in India, the Indian government had allowed the manufacturing companies to export their vaccines to other countries, eventually which resulted in the shortage of vaccines across India. By which the second wave of coronavirus is at the peak, Whereas India is facing a vaccine shortage. Even though the Union government allowed 18-45 aged people to get their dosses, the state governments had given up their hands, waiting for the requisite amount of vaccine doses. With which lakhs of people are getting infected with the virus and losing their lives every day, breaking the world records in the increasing number of cases.
